Hoek 76 Business Park is a modern commercial complex where sustainability and efficient energy use are central. The park actively invests in renewable energy and seeks smart solutions to make the most of its own energy production. This project focuses on further optimizing energy management and increasing energy independence.
Problem statement
The business park has 60 kWp of solar panels, but due to highly variable and difficult-to-predict energy consumption, much of the production cannot be used at the right time. As a result, valuable solar power is lost or must be fed back into the grid at low rates. The main challenge is: how can the business park store its own green energy and use it during peak consumption periods, reducing dependence on the grid and maximizing the use of available solar energy?
Solution by EcoSourcen
The business park takes a smart step toward energy optimization by pairing a 215 kWh battery with its 60 kWp solar installation. Because site consumption is highly variable and difficult to predict, much of the solar energy was previously lost. The new battery acts as a powerful buffer: it stores the generated electricity and delivers it back during peak demand, allowing businesses to use their own green energy to the fullest and rely less on the grid.
