Van de Mierop Farm is a family-owned business that focuses on efficient and future-oriented operations. The company is constantly seeking ways to work more sustainably and better manage its energy consumption. This project focuses on optimizing the farm’s own energy supply.
Problem statement
The farm has 60 kWp of solar panels, but due to highly variable and difficult-to-predict energy consumption, much of the production cannot be used at the right time. As a result, valuable solar power is lost or must be fed back into the grid at low rates. The key challenge is: how can the farm store its own green energy and use it during peak demand periods, reducing dependence on the grid and maximizing the use of available solar power?
Solution by EcoSourcen
Until recently, the farm was fully dependent on electricity from the grid. Rising energy costs, unpredictable prices, and limited self-generation made this dependence increasingly problematic. A solution was urgently needed to provide the farm with greater stability, lower costs, and a sustainable energy supply.
